Investment required to start a Forum?

I would like to know the investment required to start a Forum because I feel it's a good business and can pay better in the long run.

It has been years that I am having this thought, too. Perhaps if I am going to retire, I would want to have one online.

A lot of startup needs out of pocket payment. you just have to start the funding yourself

There are a lot of things involved. I would say no less than $500 as starting capital, especially if you want it to be a paid to post forum so you have a way to pay posters before getting approved for ads.

I think you need to start with about $1500 and it may even be more than that because in the first few months you may not be able to make any revenue.

I don't really know how much it would cost to start a forum though but you definitely need to have your domain or website, then the funds to start paying members and mods.
