It is a common trait of humans to always be competitive. But some school of thoughts say that for the sake of workplace harmony, staff should not compete among themselves. I think that competition brings out the best in is and when staff compete among themselves, they would put in more effort to outdo each other and this is good for the organization. Is it right for staff to compete among themselves in the workplace?

Staff can compete only if they work same job. I am teacher and I have a lot of colleague but I can compete with only two since those teach same subject as I. I can compete with others since we don't teach same subject, we have different work hours and other conditions.

It is not a bad thing for workers to compete among themselves in a workplace but the most important thing is for them to do it in a healthy way because that is the only way it can promote productivity.

When staff start undue competition in the workplace, it would lead to rivalry among them. A healthy competition where one is expected to continually improve each other is what is needed.

They can compete among themselves if they are of the same level and have the same workload or task. This usually happens in sales where everyone is competing to be awarded top seller of the month.

It is fine if it is a healthy competition. If they are so busy comparing themselves with others, then that is not a good thing. I, myself never compared and competed with others. I only compete with myself.

I think this is a very great idea for the staffs to compete among themselves in the workplace.
It however brings in what we call higher production output forth to the organisation.

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with competing among themselves. As long as their competition is sporty and professional, they don't drop each other so that it can endanger business continuity.

Staffs tend to compete among themselves for the scramble of the limited posts that are presently at the workplace in the name of promotions. However in the process, it's an added advantage to the company as the production output is being enhanced through the competition among the staffs.

It is best it is not even started because the very nature of humans won't keep that competition healthy. They would take it personal and jeopardize the entire organization.

it depends on the kind of competition in my own perspective. There are some healthy competition that will be able to boost the productivity of the business.

In the civil service in my country, they compete and some even go diabolical all in the name of getting ahead at work. I don't like workplace competitions at all..

It is wrong for staff to compete among themselves as this creates room for enemity and strife. I prefer that all staff should try to work on self improvement.

I encourage healthy competition. But if it is not healthy competition staffs should not engage in it at all because it will affect the business..

I encourage workers to compete. I'd taught before in a Montessori school, we were always competing on who is most punctual, who is most neat, who's most skilled, most honest and most social. This brought out the best in me.

It is very common for staff to compete among themselves, the important thing is fair competition. Many staff are trying to improve their skills either through higher education such as masters, or add expertise through various courses and seminars.

It is not wrong for staffs to compete among themselves if it were progressive in nature. Competition brings progress and increase productivity. However, their competition should not lead to envy and hatred among themselves. The management should orientate them about the importance of the competition.
