There are some countries that they are feeling awkward if ask about their age. Do you think it is appropriate? For me, there is nothing wrong if being asked. However, it may sound insulting for some. There are some instances that they were not fired because of their age. In my view, this is a clear way of discriminating the applicant of the company.

But during application the applicants age is written in the cover letter. It's also unethical for the interviewer to ask about the age of the applicant. The person is applying therefore he or she is in the qualified age to get hired.

In my location, before the job applicant participates in an interview, s(he) is required to show his/her HKID card to the company. The ID card has information on the applicant's date of birth. There is no need for the company to ask the applicant in person.

Well, here in Nigeria, it is expected for applicant to state his age. Infact, this should not be omitted while preparing his curriculum vitae.
The company representative would look at the age while interviewing the applicant.
Some would even go further by asking the applicant to submit his birth certificate for clarification.

If you are applying for a job then it is law that you state your age, at least over here in the UK. For many jobs, you do need to be 18 or above and due to that, they do need to ask for your age to ensure that you are the age you should be so the company does not run the risk or hiring minors into their company.

You also need to be able to prove you are who you say you are with some form of ID that will also state your age as well. I don't see anything against being asked about age when it comes to applying for a job.

It's one of personal information that you provide in your CV. There's no way any business or company will hire you without knowing your age.

If you ask women it will be insulting for her. I guess at least for most of it, especially in not formal conversation. In formal conversation it should be fine for both gender.

Sure why not they are some jobs thay are age specific and the company representative would always want to look at the age of the person before employing this is to ascertain proper aging

But in the Philippines there's no age discrimination as per order by the previous Ph President Duterte even in this new Presidential Marcos a retired employee must not be deprived of employment, the one they can manage like working in sales offices and fast food centers like Jolibee.

In my case, I never had written my age with the resume. It is not a good thing if the interviewer will ask the age. There are times that they are not going to hire someone if overqualified.

I experienced being rejected when I applied at Corpus Christi the reason was over qualification. The principal was only a masters holder and I'm a full pledged Ph. D. The owner said they cannot afford to pay me. It's important to write our educational qualifications in our Resume for it's the basis of our salary.

It's commonsense wise that once apply for a job there's resume and age is written, educational qualifications, work experiences with certificates as proofs. It sounds ugly if the interviewer says how old are you, LOL.

There's nothing wrong with asking an applicant about their age even though it's written in their CV. Only an applicant who wants to falsify his age will be scared of such questions.

This in my country is a requirement which goes with the qualifications on the job advert. So the issue of the age is something that is so compulsory for one to be employed.

Some job roles are suitable for people of a certain age and a company knowing the age of it's potential employees withdrawal help it determine if the person has what it takes to handle he job roles.

Personally i do not really see anything wrong with asking a potential employee about their age. These are the details an employer needs to know about does working under them.
