You are right. We cannot argue with someone if we cannot prove certain issues or concerns against them.It's fine only if you have the facts corrected and have the data and research to prove him or her wrong and a good boss will accept his defeat only if you have the required artillery to argue with them.
I think this is not really reasonable. There are times when you may not be on the same page with your boss so you have to be polite about it.In my view, it is fine to argue with our bosses as long as it was done professionally. It is also like accepting constructive criticisms. But then, some bosses would not admit that they are at fault sometimes. The course of action is to explain your side and stop arguing. Why? There is nothing going to happen if we continue defending your point to him or her.
