I see a lot of people who want to marry in Nigeria. But they can't because of financial challenges. Some end up taking loans for the purpose of marriage. I believe that this is wrong. No marriage should involve borrowed funds.

It is absolutely wrong. You can do wedding without spending much. When I did my wedding, I did not call reception. Though I celebrated with few of my family members and that is okay by me. Most times, people use to land themselves in trouble because of societal pressures. Don't live above your means is a gold words
Many advertisements from finance companies here encourage people to borrow money to travel, buy luxury items or have a lavish wedding. I don't think it is a good idea to borrow money for wedding. If you don't have the budget for a lavish wedding, just have a dinner with family members, relatives and close friends. No need to owe debt for this reason.
I am not married but I Don't like this idea. One can be. married in a simple way. Borrowing money for a wedding is a big no.
The soon to be married need not to borrow money. They have to save money first and wedding doesn't need lavish celebration. What's important is they'll be officially and legally tied. They should not apply for loan. It's like committing a suicide.

My colleague at the workplace took a loan that would take him 3 years to finish repaying. It is so terrible a situation.
i would say no. WHen you get a loan for your wedding you are going to spend years after your wedding paying for that one day. Its best to use what you have. if at all you cant afford a wedding that you want then its best to do something simple and affordable for now and save up for the wedding of your dreams together. starting a marriage on debt is not a good start.
Its important for couples to be on the same page when it comes to finances especially when starting a new life together. Borrowing money for a wedding just creates unnecessary stress and burden on the relationship.
Absolutely, that might be the cause of their constant fight after marriage. They must save first or just have a simple wedding for family members only to attend to receive blessings from them.
There is a popular saying that cut your coat according to your size. There is no harm in doing a small wedding, cause if you decide to take loan for the wedding, instead of you enjoying yourselves as newly weds, you would be looking for ways to pay back.
I strongly disagree with borrowing money to invest in getting married, in my opinion it is better to get married in a religious office or make small receptions According to ability rather than forcing myself to hold a large-scale reception but leaving debt behind.
