Is self employment better than working for a large company?

Is self-employment more stimulating than working for a large organisation? If you agree or disagree with that, care to explain your answer with the rest of us?

I think it depends on how the person going to take it. As for me, I can do both if there is a chance. I can work regularly offline and be a part-timer online.

I have worked for start-ups and multinationals. Multinationals can afford to pay me a competitive salary, good fringe benefits, business travel opportunities. But to work in big corporations, you have to handle a lot of work politics or bureaucracy. Now, I am self employed. I work as a freelancer. Although I do not get the same pay and fringe benefits offered by big corporations, I have more flexibility. I can control my work schedule and can maintain a better work life balance.

Self employment is better than working for somebody. Self employment gives us freedom and makes us independent. Though, self employment is not easy but demand high level of creativity and innovation. Initially, self employment use to be so demanding when you don't have enough fund.

Yeah not everything is about money. That's not every thing can't be estimated in naira and Kobo so we can still not take a job but prefer our little job with freedom

For me, it depends on the pay. I will go with the one that pays much more better and convenient for me. But if they are the same I will prefer being self employed

Personally, I believe that everything depends on the nature of the job you are doing and how much you are being paid at your work which compares to what you are making from being self-employed that matters.

Even with the biggest company, there is nothing like job security. Whereas I am reasonably secured having an established business. I stand with self employment over a large company.

The amount you earn really differs. In some cases, a regular 9-5 job pays more than being self-employed, and vice versa.

There are various factors to consider here. It depends on the person's preference and most importantly what you are making from your business. Being self employed does have the potential of generating more money for you in the future more than working for a big company.
