You raise a valid concern. While adults theoretically have more discernment, social media can negatively impact people of any age through misinformation, toxic cultures, and distorted reality.
Nowadays, it is difficult to prevent kids to access social media. They have peer pressure. As long as they are not addicted to it and is used under parental guidance, I think it is okay to allow kids to use social media.
Kids these days are easily more influenced. It's hard to see children who can stand their ground and be responsible in this current generation. So I believe it's best not to let them join at this early age.
I will not allow children to use social media, considering the presence of online predators. I believe it is best to wait until they reach 15 or 16 years old, or until they prove enough responsibility to use it.
Any child of mine that is not up to 20 years old would not have his or her social media freedom. They would be on social media but they would be heavily monitored by me.
