That is why we should be different from animals.
I've always told myself that what matters most is my happiness first before any other thing because if anything goes wrong with me, it's my suffering.
In my case, I celebrate achievements, I believe in my relatives, especially my family, I and my siblings were nurtured by my parents to respect relatives for they are always there to extend a helping hand. Blood is thicker than water. perhaps your experience with your relatives is not good, or chaotic which's why you dislike them. I am always inspired by my expectations come what may. I have a very strong spirit. That is one strength of mine.
I agree with you, because achievements only belong to you so you should celebrate them.
Celebrate life, celebrate your existence, life is everything.
I do celebrate achievements. This motivates me to do even better. I have a close relationship with relatives. I have expectations so that I can work hard to meet my expectations. But I do agree that we should not have many desires. Contentment is the key to happiness.
In my case, I make a point to acknowledge accomplishments. This is something that I did not practice previously. Nonetheless, when I made the choice to live independently, I had many realizations, one of which involved acknowledging even the smallest wins.
