Loving a child than the others

I'm yet to have children but I see parents do this. Could it be an unconscious thing. Because I wouldn't want to exhibit this with my kids

There is no parent that doesn't have a favourite child but mature parents make sure even the kids don't know there is a favourite amongst them.

My mom treated me and the siblings equally. Unlike my father, he likes our only sister in the family. Although my brothers and I never felt unfair about it.

Sometimes it is an unconscious thing while other times it is deliberate. I guess it is something that you can control if you choose to, that is what I will do myself when I get children. I will try my best to treat them equally.

Some parents, particularly those who are narcissistic, tend to play favorites. In some cases, mothers tend to favor their sons, often feeling envious of their daughters.

It will be bad to feel that a child is not the favorite in the family. I am lucky, it is not happening in our family, all is fair in treatment by my parents.

I do not see why someone should hide his or feelings towards his/her child. I love my kid and I am open about it.

I just wish not to allow my love for a favourite child show to the siblings when I eventually have kids.
