Most people invest when price is low and then take profits within hours or even minutes. I've seen a coin do 2x and then dump in less than 30 minutes, which was when I decided that trading memes is not for everyone.

You are right, short term trading or less than seven days is often done by speculator investors on newly launched meme coins. usually investors wait for this ico meme to be listed on the crypto exchange so the price will go up and at that time they take profit.

You are right, we are not speculators so it would be better to avoid meme coins, there are lots of good and reliable coins to invest in like Bitcoin and Ethereum.
