What they don't realize is cthat that is not what can solved unemployment in the country. The few ones that are created by government are bedeviled with corruptions. A government could legitimately venture into business in certain circumstances. For example, to assure its citizens of reasonably priced and uninterrupted services, a state may get involved in the business of generating and supplying electric power.
The most important thing when it comes to government venturing into business is for them to offer something in a way that is going to be affordable for the people to patronize that business. They can also offer job opportunities to the people.

In my location, government does not own any business. The role of government is to create an environment and offer policies for businesses to thrive. There are some organizations which are subsidized by government funding.
I still think government should venture into business and be transparent about it, even though sometimes they don't choose workers based on merit it's all done with slots which will favour politicians in the long run.I hope they think about the masses and their sufferings.

I think that the government does get involved in many businesses and even invest in many businesses as well and this is why such kind of companies could be semi-governmental in the first place.
The major reason governments venture into business is to provide subsidized products for the citizens but this has always been taken advantage of by people who are managing the business.
You are very right, I believe if government is fair enough when giving out these jobs then it would have reduce the rate of unemployment but then they are always giving it out as slots in return for money .
Leave that thing. It is not even what I was implying. No economy that grows depends on government to create jobs. Go and think of a business you can start and employ one person. If five people in your street do that, unemployment has reduced by 10 persons. We should stop the entitlement mentality.
