Namecheap blocked in India

Namecheap and other domain registrars are blocked in India due to court orders. Does anyone from India on this forum have domains with Namecheap? If yes, are you able to access the domains, and renew them?

This big blow for the namecheap companies. I think this may be caused by diplomatic, taxation and copyright and licencing issues that brought up all of these but I think they would be resolved and business would be normal as usual.

That's bad news for any business owner. I don't know the reason but if it's related to taxes then I hope they resolve it soon and they may be able to resume their business soon.

What is Indian goverment excuse for this? Copyright and licensing can't be problem since two persons can't be owner of same domain. In technical way it is not possible do this. Also Namecheap don't have problems with leaking informations or losing domain access.

Go Daddy is not an Indian company but it is a popular domain registrar and web hosting company in India. Maybe Godaddy was losing business to Namecheap, so that filed a case.

Oh my god, i'm just hearing about this when did this happen. Also why exactly did this happen. This is so bad but i guess you guys can make use of other domain platforms.

I think this wou affect many businesses in India. The reasons behind this being Namecheap,as it's a very reputable, and affordable domain name provider has got many clients on the country and this would affect the businesses at large.

Do you have any idea why this company was blocked in India but I don't even know if we can make use of it in my country because there is a popular one that people mostly use here

You could for example pay someone living outside India to the order of your namecheap domain and hosting and then access to cpanel details and that is all it is not the end of the world.

I was just thinking this. Maybe they indeed did but who knows? It's definitely a huge gain for GoDaddy though.

This is because they have PayPal supported that means PayPal supported on their countries that is why Godaddy will gain, if banned on country where PayPal is not supported things will differ from this.

I think India is going in bad direction. Closing or ban multiple service like TikTok or other just close society and people will search backdoors and ilegal ways to access it.
