When it comes to running a business, honestly plays a very important role between the business owner and the customers. But most business owners believe there should be a limit to this. This is why you find most business owners tell you they can handle a particular job when they have never done it before, simply to not loose the customer. What's your take on this, should there be a limit to honestly in business?

I think that business owners should always be honest and transparent when it comes to conducting business. Being transparent means that you are not hiding anything from customers which they deserve to know as customers.

Honesty does play a very important role. But nothing in this world is idealistic. So, in real world they do hide certain things from the Customers. As long as it's not something unethical and illegal, it's okay to do so.

It is good for business to be perceived as being honest by its customers. Though there is a limit to v this. It is not in all ways it must expose its mode of operation fcorc the sake of being honest and fair to its customers. But at least, the customers must satisfied of its honesty.

Business owners should always know that honesty is the best policy. With a honesty rate that is above 80% you would already be outstanding. You need a policy that will assure your patrons as one with integrity

I totally agree with the above post, having a 100 percent honesty rate is not a pragmatic one. But yes, businesses can maintain their integrity by being on higher side of percentage when it comes to honesty. Anything above 80 percentage would be incredible and will definitely help them build a trust with their customer base.

Exactly in every business honestly matters a lot. Trust me i would not be willing to work with anyone that is not being honest or straight forward in their dealings, or even think about referring anyone.

Running a business is not easy. It can be tricky at times. Honesty is the best policy but it might not work out in every situation. For a simple example here that is very common. You get a rude customer to handle. Your honest reaction would be to punch him/her in face, but then you can't afford to. You will be polite and professional to deal with him. So, a bit of pretending is there.

I understand the business people in these situations. They need the money and they know they are not very efficent in that job. They accept it. The part I fault them is the greed that would make them to attempt to do that work instead of outsourcing it.

In some situations being dishonest is pardonable as it's more like being diplomatic. It's tricky to run a business and one needs to be diplomatic in approach than being brutal honest. But if the dishonesty is out of greed and goes for cheating and fraud, it's unethical and is not pardonable

To be candid, there are limit to vthe degree of honesty a business might give to its customers. All companies have their own secrecy which vthe are guiding against and protected. This is normal procedure in business settings.

I think a business should always be honest to customers. Do not exaggerate the benefits of your products. This is the way you build trust with your customers. That said, every company has its trade secrets. There's no need to disclose confidential information to outsiders.

Actually I don't see anything bad in that, the main thing is that the work should be done in the best way .some people accept jobs other than their own field and give it to experts that would do the job well.

Of course, if there's something you should value then that should be your relationship with your customers. Learn to be honest with them, it's an easiest way of getting them attached to you.

It is better to be honest to our customers when we run a business but that doesn't mean we have to tell everything to our customers there is some confidentiality on the business world.

I remember last year i always has an issue with my previous boss cause of this. My boss had setup a rule that before we buy anything we should let him know and he would be the one to make the order. As the manager i have told him of the things we where lacking, but he was not making any move. So whenever a customer called and asked about something we don't have, i simply tell them the truth that we dont have it. My boss got so angry and was shouting at me about it on multiple occasions. It got to a day i snapped back asked him so what should i tell them? If i tell them we have the materials they would be expecting to get their jobs done within a few hours. So what happens when i tell we have it and they pay, only for them to come and see that the job is not even ready.

You did the right thing, its beyond your capacity so you did what you have to do, you don't need to take a responsibility for a things you can't control so letting know your customer the right thing is a good choice.

In the end whenever a customer called to ask about something that we don't have, i would simply refer them to my boss. It was really stressful back then though, but at least i gained some experience from there in the end.
