Most business owners and employers tend to give their workers employee bonuses or benefits as some would call it. In cases of bad economy or in situation where cost of production becomes too high, do you think its okay for business owners to cut down or completely suspend employee benefits?

I think basic benefits such as medical benefits should not be cut. But if the company is not making a profit, it's reasonable not to distribute any bonus to employees.

I think it won't be removed because they're already part of the company policies. But if there's consultation and raise this issue there will be disputes and debate to happen. Employees may report to labor.

It depends. Even where it must be removed, it has to be discussed with the workers union for them to reason with the management and with a condition that it would be returned once the hard times fade off.

The truth is that if the company is no longer viable or not making a profit any longer it's reasonable not to distribute any bonus to employees. this will help sustain the business

Bonuses are mandated by law, so the company private and public must abide the law unless very small private firm, the employees can receive only a certain amount to compensate for their feelings.

Well to an extent i agfee with you the employees can still receive only a little of the bonus or amount to compensate for their high bonus if this is backed by laws

Yes, so true, I based it on my place, my cousin works in a law firm and the firm did not have a good income so during bonuses releases, they were told that the firm cannot give much to them. They receive only $30 each and she resigned after that hehehe. She is now working in Australia and has a very good salary as an accountant.

That was a good one or move. Sometimes we just have to let go of a place of work when it is no longer working for us another job place might be all we need

@cherry123, that is right, and I firmly agree that everything happens for a reason the same happening to my cousin because of that instance she decided to resign and found a better place to work.

Sure I know for a fact that a lot of things that happened in our lives is for a reason. to know that what happened made your cousin stronger and to even get a better offer.

Yes, my cousin became stronger and never had a grudge against the law firm, she was so thankful for that circumstance. She is now married to an Australian businessman. She is lucky.

If it becomes very difficult for the company to keep paying those employees benefit, I believe that it is logical for them to remove it instead of having it crumble the business completely.

You are so right. We do have standard practices that companies need to abide. If they cannot do them, they will be in difficult consequences. It is how the companies need to follow the standard rules in our country.

The reality is that when things are too hard, there is no option than to be practical and do what you have got to do. Some organizations even do pay cuts when things are genuinely very hard.

We have to be very realistic as employers too of the expectations we have from our employers else we end up expecting too much. We also have to learn to understand and adjust with sincere bosses. During the lockdown, the organization o worked with paid half salaries and it was understandable.

Not really but then again, We have to be very realistic with some employers.. We just have to understand and adjust with sincere bosses. Especially if it is expedient for them to cut out losses
