Some strangers are falsely claiming that they have made payment to a bank account and are posting on forums to defame the business. What could be the motivation of these strangers who have never interacted with the business owner, why are they wasting their time?

Normally when people make false claims they have a reason to do that. Sometimes its to make people lose faith ina certain forum or site. I have seen an instance where a site was deemed bad bit it was purely to kill the site because it was a competition.
First time I started working online, I found a few sites I could use as my payment processors. I googled reviews for perfect money,there where a lot of bad reviews about the site. Later on a I learned that the reviews where made to ruin the reputation for the site. I registered with it and I found no issues with the site..
This is also my first time to hear such thing, there is really a motive behind it if really happens because we all know that nothing is impossible in this world.
Usually, people who do this have a motive and it's usually to give the business in question a bad name, either that or as a way to scam people which is something you have to be very careful of. Competition is something that is very big when it comes to businesses and in some cases, people will do things to try and ruin the reputation of a business they are in competition with in hopes it works out better for them. It's an awful thing to do.
It is true that people that they indulge in such kind of activities are scammers and they're willing to rip the company off.
I personally think that this phishing scheme is starting to spread and being done by the scammers from time to time. I also received such prompts at random. I just ignore and delete them.
