Variable Return on Investment or Fixed Return

Some assets provide you variable returns, where as some assets provide you fixed return. For instance, when you invest in stock market, your return will fluctuate because stock market performances primarily influence stock investment returns, your returns depend on how the market is performing. However, bonds provide fixed returns over a specified period. Likewise certificate of deposit or fixed deposit bank accounts also provide fixed returns. Do you like variable returns or fixed returns?

For me l would prefer that variable kind of return on investments. This could really arrive at its peaks sometimes on the long run while the investment is being active.

Maybe I would prefer the one with fixed returns as this I'm certain amount the percentage of things to come in as cash flow

With variable returns, one can't plan effectively with the investment returns in view. I prefer a fixed returns.

Since I am so against usury and riba, I have always prefered variable returns. Certain Islamic banks are offering fixed returns though. Having said that, if a person invests in a financial market, then they may get high returns, even though they may receive variable returns.
