What is the Downside of giving our employees too much freedom?

Any employee have the right to get freedom at his or her working areas, and there are a limit of freedom that he or she can get on their working areas, but some times employers give too much freedom to their works and that will show some negative impact on the job and shows less productivities, some works use their freedom for bad things like using phone instead of working, and talking work unrelated talks with coworkers for long times.
So in your view do you think giving too much freedom for works have downside?

If you give too much freedom, some people will become more efficient but there are also people who try top abuse it and stop working.

Allowing them too much freedom has its advantages and disadvantages. While some may exert extra effort, others may become lazy and perform poorly.

If you don't want to breed a cabal in your organisation, don't give too much freedom to your staff. If you do, they would become more powerful than you in that section of the organisation.

I believe the major disadvantage in this is that they tend to take things for granted.

Too much freedom to employees would make them become unconscious of leadership and discipline in the organisation. And it can make leadership to lose that influence to make tough decisions.

If we do this, employees will abuse the kindness of a company. Thus, we still need not to be lenient to them.

Yes have conversations all the time like talking work unrelated talks with coworkers for long hours times. giving too much freedom at work is sometimes bad

They would familiarize themselves so much with the work environment and would feel that they can get away with just anything. That's a disadvantage of too much freedom to staff.
