Self medication is good only for a common sickness like cold where you can drink only lemon with honey. For a sickness like fever you can just massage your feet and leg but for serious illnesses , it cannot be made to self medication. You need a physician.
People who engage in self medication are not following doctor's prescription and instruction which is really bad.
The worst scenario is to engage in self medication because it could lead to death if there's not taken.
This would be the worst case that could ever be experienced in such case and that is why it is necessary to always follow instructions from a medical personnel.
People put themselves in deep trouble when they fail to follow instruction from the medical teams which could be detrimental.
With self medication you can easily cause more harm to yourself than good. Taking in the wrong drugs is drug abuse and can even lead to death if care is not taken, this is why it is best to seek the hep of a professional.
Effect of self-medication is extremely bad and it is important to never indulge in that.
There are many negative effects of self-medication such as being able to misdiagnose a disease, if a wrong diagnosis causes the wrong choice of drug, if the wrong drug causes a delay in getting the right treatment so that it can exacerbate a disease, and so on.
For minor sickness such as a mild headache, or a sneezing nose, I do take OTC drugs such as Panadol or antihistamine. If the condition gets worse, I'll for sure go to see a doctor.
Self medication can even lead to death. It is not a difficult thing to contact a doctor to prescribe drugs for you.
