I am too not sure whether there is any rewards for the top posters of the month. I have however never seen or read from the announcements about that for sure.
Earlier on website used to pay rewards for becoming top poster but these days you don't get any monetary reward but you do get top poster of the month tag and even that's a good way to motivate users.
A top poster or top 3 posters used to get rewards but that happens only when a Contest is running otherwise you get the top poster prestigious badge from the admin
I have won this award a few times but these days I don't have so much time to post again and again and when you opt for gold you can earn more in less posts
