Which is the most taxed commodity in your country?

Taxes are the revenue tools of government. There are different kinds of taxes. And different types of products are taxed different rates. The tax paid by a food production company would not be the same for luxury products like gold.

What is the most taxed commodity in your country? In my country, beers are the most taxed commodity in the economy.

I just heard that they have just increased the excise duties for beer in my country. The only alcohol that gives us joy is what they are increasing taxes for.

Cars are also heavily taxed in my country, especially used cars. I believe that all these high taxes is not reasonable. It would encourage more and more smuggling and enrich custom officials.

At the moment i believe some of the things with high tax should be tobacco, alcohol, and health. I really do not understand why these things have high tax though .

There are a couple. Cars, alcoholic beverages and cigarettes are heavily taxed in my location. Recently, government has raised the tax for cigarettes again as an effort to discourage smoking. However, I think this may lead to the rise of smuggling.

I know about cars being heavily taxed both the new and used cars. As Nigerians just love to buys cars to show wealth it is really not very good for the poor

I cannot pinpoint which one that is commonly taxed in my country. All I know is that it has long list of my country's commodities being taxed. For me, they need to be taxed.

I think you are right with your assertion because electricity has become a big problem in my country as well because of the high taxes.

The multiplier effect of high taxation on the economy is better imagined than experienced. It would lead to high level of job losses because companies cannot operate in their original capacity because of low patronage.
