White elephant sales

White elephant sale is the same as garage sales. These sales are not as frequent as one sees garage sales.

These sales are arranged in one's home. Some prefer to offer their items to Second hand retailaers who will sell them keeping a margin for themselves.

Would you have white elephant sales or offer your used items to secnd hand retailers?

I know of garage sales but never heard of the term white elephant sales. Looks like this is just a different term for garage sales.

They are often organized by NGOs by collecting items from those who wish to do away with them

I never heard this type of sale. Just aware of normal general sale as while shifting houses we have to sell extra old items, so we call some buyers those who give good money for these items and then we sell these.

This is my first time learning about this term. In my country, we commonly call it garage sales. We did this before in our family house. At random, my aunt usually has this activity every dry season.
