Who should bear the cost of the real estate agent in a rental transaction: the landlord or the tenant? On one hand, some believe that the landlord should cover the cost of the real estate agent because they are the one who is looking to rent out their property and benefit from the transaction.

On the other hand, others argue that the tenant should bear the cost because they are the one who is searching for a suitable property and will ultimately benefit from the services provided by the agent.

It is supposed to be the landlord, but I don't understand the reason the tenants now have to do it. Maybe because of high demand for houses here and there.

I think the landlord is supposed to pay the agent but it is quite unfortunate that it is the tenants that paid the agent and they always make the payment too high for us

I think the landlord is the one that supposed to pay the agent. They usually calculate the total amount of money of the agent and that of the landlord together.

In my country, it is not popular to avail the service of the agent. For me, the owner is the one who needs to pay him or her.

For me i feel it depends on who enlist the list of the agent. But in most cases the landlords usually tells the tenant to pay a separate fee called agent fee.
