Why do some businesses die with the owner?

I have seen some renowned businesses wither away when the owner passes on. I am sure you have seen it too. Businesses that were doing very well. Few weeks after the owner dies, operations cease. What could be the cause of this?

Yeah I have seen a lot of business dies immediately the owner is dead. I think no one to manage well just like the owner. And sometimes no body is interested in that line of business

Yes I totally agree with you, Maybe that's the reaseon. I've also seen it, a business that is very busy once the owner dies, then the business starts to go backwards and ends up going bankrupt or being sold.

it is always appalling though that a business that was once very busy once the owner dies, then the business dies too I'm sure the owner feels totally bad about that

For me, I blame the owners of such businesses. A good leader builds leaders and not followers. Before you should even pass in, you should build someone that is exactly like you.

Sometimes, I blame the immediate family of the business owner. They never got close to know the working of the business so they can continue when the owner passes on.

Often business owners with some customers, especially local customers will sell the business with goodwill after they become old and are not interested in running the business themselves.

This is what happens when your business doesn't have a working structure. Once anything happens to you as the owner, the business goes down with you.

I have not seen companies freeze in a day when the owner died. The operations continue despite the death of the owner. I do believe that it would still be operational because that is how business works.

Most business die with the owners when the owner was not able to raise up someone capable enough to run the business even in his absent. This is why most experts says your business is not growing if your presence is not needed anywhere.
