In some workplaces and organizations, employees are like robots. They don't have the right to question the orders being given and they are not allowed to make decisions in the workplace. They are instruction takers. I don't think it is right. I think it is good to allow the employees make some workplace decisions. What do you think about this? Should employees be free to make decisions?

Yes, I do that in my department. There are activities that are assigned to some individuals and they are exposed to this activity making them knowledgeable about it so I let them make their decisions as long as thet will be able to deliver what is expected of them or even surpass the expectation.

Some employers tend to want to gag their employees. They are not allowed to express themselves in the workplace at all. And this kind of workplace cannot grow the way it is supposed to.

Employees should not be treated as people that don't have brains. Give them the allowance to make decisions. With that, you are building them to become leaders in their own right.

It is good to get opinions from different employees because some of them may be very smart and can profer some solutions to the problems that your business is facing

If you assign a job task to a staff, allow the staff free hands let him or her do the task. Don't try to interfere unless something is about to go wrong. It helps to build confidence.

Making decisions can be of different kind, if it's not the one that can accept the business. It is good to give your workers a free hand and not make them look like a robot

Allowing workers to make contributions in workplace do sometimes occur in some organizations. They value the contributions of their workers which they consider it could help to improve the working conditions and ultimately results into high productivity.

There are certain situations you have to give your workers the benefit of doubt so you see their abilities to make decisions. It should not be in aspects that can hurt your business.

@Niyi Briggs said care should be taken o the kind of decisions some employees should make. The truth is that you would start by allowing them to take minor decisions and evaluate their decision making skills before they are allowed overtime to make complex decisions.

If you can't raise leaders from your business, you are just wasting the time of those staff. That's because a staff is supposed to grow in decision making as he or she keeps working in your organization.

You don't have the right to question the decisions of your boss because it is not your place but you only have the right to make suggestions when there is a meeting going on.

What about the boss delegating the responsibility of decision making to the employee? Like a company wants to employ, the boss tells one of his staff to conduct interview and report to him if the candidate should be employed or not.

I agree. Employees should be given the chance to make decisions in the workplace. That would help to boost morale and motivation of the staff. In addition, this is a good on-the-job training for your staff to promote to a more senior position.

That's how you help a staff to grow in experience. As they keep on making decisions, they would make mistakes and learn from them. Before you know it, you have another manager in the making.

It is because they are working as a team. A company will not work if they are inhibiting the decisions not done by them. They were hired because they are qualified to have decisions as a team in a company.

In any business venture where employees do not contribute then there will actually be some kind of decline in productivity. Making them to contribute will probably give more insights on how to run the business effectively.
