The primary reason why it is not allowed is having the personal interest of working together. At some point, they cannot work actively in reaching the common goals. They can also affect the creation of brilliant ideas. The company does not want to commit crimes because of covering up the mistakes done by the family member. It is a crime that cannot be covered up as much as possible.

I think it is a case to case because, in the university where I am working, the sons and daughters of the regular employees are also working. Maybe for a private company it is t allowed, but the university where I work is owned by the national government.

I do agree that it cannot be generalized. As for me, there will be no dilemmas if having businesses with my immediate siblings. We were so close and know what can run in every mind, especially in having a business.
In my milk tea business it's my sister that I hired to do the cashiering. We can trust fully our siblings than the outsiders. They may not be as faithful as our own family members.
In my location, there are many family businesses here. Some are conglomerates, some are small businesses. Family members do work in these family businesses. That said, for companies which are not family businesses, they seldom hire employees from the same family.
I don't want to think that it is totally wrong for family members to work in a particular company provided that they have the expertise.
I feel like it's possible, if they are not closely related or do not work in closely related departments. This will reduce the likelihood of conflict and with proper understanding of how to manage issues that arise, or work well.
I do not think that such policies should hold because employment should be based on skills and qualifications.
If family members are allowed to work in the same company, most time they won't be serious. They would carry personal matters above official matters. They would turn the business into family business. Discipline would be difficult to establish.
It is better that members ofthe family do not have to work together. It will slow down the progress of the business as work ethics might not be fully observed due to unnecessary familiarity among family members
It is not totally true that if members of the family worked together in a particular company, it will causes a setback for the company.
I do believe this is a case-to-case basis and it's not something that every business prevents. I have known family members to work in the same place and at the same time before and it has not caused any issues, if anything, it helped both of them with any worries or anxiety they had regarding the job.
I can understand some businesses having this policy but in some cases, I don't feel it should be an issue unless the two family members make it an issue.

I wouldn't be comfortable working in the same company with a relative or family member. I may later quit my job lol
