PEME is mandatory to every company without this, the new hire cannot continue to be in the company. Health condition is important. So the company is ensuring that the new hire is capable of doing the job. And also, to ensure that he/she will not cause any problem to other employees aboard.
I remember in 2015, I was already hired but my xray turned out negative results. They found a spot in my lungs. I was hired in February 2015, 2 weeks later, I was kicked off. I applied in March 2015 in another company had my xray again. I passed the medical exam. I even asked another doctor in February that year, showed my xray scan. The doctor told me it was just a suspicion and nothing to worry. Turned out I was not sick when I got my xray the following month.
But yeah, medical exams are important thus imposing it prior employments.

Employers want to be on safer side apart from the government policies that compel employers to compensate employees that die while working for the company.
They have to know if you can handle the nature of the job being presented to you. Not every job can be done by everybody. And your medicals would show what you can do clearly.

It is a standard practice that companies need their hired employees to submit a health certificate. One thing is for sure, it is one of the requirements of the local government for the companies.
Medical check-ups proofs are necessary and good organisations demand for it. This can help them to ascertain the job role that would be perfect for you. It is a good human resource management practice.
You must be healthy if you want to work in any kind of organisation.

If a person wants to work in businesses that are related to food industry, he or she needs to have this medical certificate. It is a strict requirement that restaurants need after hiring their employees.
Its ok for company to know the health status of the person they want to employ in order for them to know if it's not going to affect the work of the company
Even in my university, a medical report was demanded as part of my admission processing. I think it just would help a company to know what to expect health wise about a staff..
