Workers might contribute something to decision-making, but it's the decision of the management that prevails and the workers to obey. The workers lack the necessary procedures or processes, unlike the management or business owners. I have a business and I will never allow my two workers to overrule my decions.
It is true that staff especially casual staff are the ones that hear customer complaints even more than the management. The input of the staff is then vital to organizational decision making.
An employee has the authority to make decisions in his department, for example a machinist must of course be able to make a decision whether an engine spare part needs to be replaced or repaired, so that it will save more costs. In each department the managers also have authority in making decisions according to their fields. But global decisions such as corporate plans are determined by the general meeting of shareholders. In general, companies will involve employees. The importance of every worker being able to make decisions on their part will increase responsibility and increase innovation and creativity.
It is very important that you should consider your workers when it comes to making decisions about your business because they are the ones that are going to do what you wanted them to do. If your decision is something that is going to affect their productivity, it is generally going to affect your business.

You are very right, the management can't see all especially things going on in the grassroot among workers or even customers and that's why the management body need to ask staffs of some of these and this will enable them make proper planning and decision making.
Workers are not considered that much important in many business organisations rather it is the management that takes important decisions. In many cases, there are workers unions that helps workers protect the rights of workers, so workers should be considered important.
Workers are supposed to be involved in decision making. They can be asked for their opinion but not directly involved in decision making.

Workers are important in decisions making because they are also stakeholders in the operation of the business. They are mostly hit by the decision taking by the management because they don't have input in the decision. But where they are part, their interest would be taken care of.
