Companies and Dating Policies

There are some companies out there, that enforce a no dating policy on people who are interested in co-workers. I've even heard of a few that confuse married couples as if they are trying to date, as if the reason why they are flirting with each other, or being too familiar with each other, as if the two are looking to get romantically involved with someone at work, even though they are married to each other.

What do you think of this sort of policy? Is flirtation with coworkers, something that should be an issue at work?

In my location, that depends on the policy of individual companies. A lot of companies allow co-workers to date each other. Actually, some of my married friends knew their husband/wife at workplace.

It is not good to date a co-worker. It can lead to favoritism and subverting of common goal. I would not like it in my own organization.

I believe that love can be found anywhere and people should not be gagged from acting out their feelings in the name of a workplace.

We don't have such rules at my workplace. We have a couple in school. Now they are married. I tried with my coworker be iin relatioship but it didn't work. Now she don't work anymore there and maybe I will try with somebody else.

I don't think this should be a problem but it also depends on the policy of the employee companies. if it's allowed then co-workers can go ahead to date each other.

That is so unethical, that married couples must refrain from doing romantic actions. They are at a workplace though it is so rare having a couple working in one office, for me, it is not good flirting with each other. My co-worker courted me before, we belong in one department, but I can never swallow it having a suitor in the same office. So I resigned, to have peace of mind.

I'm the kind of person that doesn't like to have any kind of romantic relationship with my co-workers. Even without the company's dating policy, I will not be interested in getting into relationship with any of my colleagues.

Yeah I think this should be of a personal conviction if you are not comfortable with this then you should try to avoid it but if it is allowed and you are comfortable then go ahead.

Flirtation in working place should not be encouraged. I think a company or a business organization must be explicit about it. Not necessarily to prevent such but to have it in black and white against litigation tomorrow.. Flirtation have caused more damage in working place than bribery and corruption.

@Magnus2022 very well said. It's also not a good picture in a certain work place. They are working and paid. They're not in s shooting agenda. They will be the talk of the company. It's a shame.

This is why people all the time says business is business maybe a lot of people need to understand this to keep any kind of romance off the working place

Well every companies has its own policy which is stated before any employment is made. Dating policy might be introduced for the purpose to promote efficiency and devotion among workers.

Some of the companies are doing that because they don't want distraction.

I think it is fine in certain companies. The only thing is that one of them will quit the job if planning to get married. That is a policy for them to comply here in my country.

When two co workers are in a relationship, just know that the ideology of 'injury to one is injury to all'. You can't be struggling to deal with two disgruntled staff per time.

Flirting at work causes little or less concentration at work. The effect of his is that work will always appear to be slow as the interest to work is being replaced. However, I believe that the policy should be handled with caution

I think it is fine in certain companies. The only thing is that one of them will quit the job if planning to get married. That is a policy for them to comply here in my country.

There is nothing wrong in it but one of them should resign as you have stated in order to avoid distractions..

I have been hearing about companies that have relationships policy their workers must abide with. I don't support this kind of legislation. Dating relationships can start any where. There were many couples whose their relationship started from their working places. I think what they supposed to have done is to warn their workers from not allowing their personal relationship affect their official duties at works.
