It does help but only walking for 20 mins may not help and we need to work on our diet and need to eliminate sugar and other such fried stuffs

If you combine walking with reducing calorie intake, it will certainly help in weight loss. The thing is you need to create calorie deficit.

Yes, it may be helpful to burn calories. You may also do it by exercising. If you don't wish to do exercise them it's better to go for a walk.

I think that the twenty minutes walk is not enough for making us physical fit for that matter.
Twenty minutes is enough, it's a standard number of minutes that could let you create 5000 steps, a combined jog-walk. It's what I am doing everyday. I maintain my weight, 53 kilos or 106 pounds.
