I am planning to put up at least 4 units to start the business at home. For this I will start saving. My brother also can help.

It depends on how you plan on going about it in the first place. Most people start their laundry business from their homes, without the use of washing machines, hence they did not have to worry about renting a space and all that. A person who plans on renting a space and as well buying machines form the get go would definitely have to spend more.

That's 2 units of washer and 2 units dryer. That's the current set up I see in the neighborhood. Because now, there is the do-it-yourself service.

It is like this one. Very neat to see. And can attract more people. In my village, I think there is no business like this. But I am planning to put up the business near schools and stores. With 4 units, that can start up at home.

No. You don't need to have huge capital. You can start from small medium by making use of human labor instead of laundry machine.
The basic things needed are washing machine, iron and space to spread cloth. You can still start a laundry business small if you don't have a huge capital

C'mon. Prior to pandemic, I have been going to the laundry shop to wash my clothes on my own. And fold them in the store as well.
I reckon that you may need a few thousands dollars in order to start such kind of business. Starting a laundry also require you to hire professional workers who could help you manage business.
If the old machinery is yours it won't be too much of a problem in the future, but if you buy used machinery it should be considered because it is prone to damage. Meanwhile, rented places will make your operational costs higher and reduce profits.
The total estimate needed to run a laundry business is around $1,080, this is only based on prices in my country, so if you have a capital of $2,000 it is more than enough and can be used as a reserve capital. but you need to survey the prices in your country.
I am not sure how much you need to start this business. You must do a very good search. I think it is a business that it is worth starting.
