Is overpopulation a problem?

It was during my economic class we were taught that overpopulation is a menace to the society. That overpopulation begat high rate in unemployment and crime. But I disagree with this. China is one of the overpopulated countries, yet they have low rate of unemployment and crime rate simply because they are able to manage their economy. A country which underpopulated but poor economy will have high rate of crimes and unemployment. Nigeria is not as populated as China or India, yet we have high rate of unemployment and crimes because our economy is not managed by the qualified hands.

It will greatly affect the country's economy. It is a contributor to the state of poverty. I am sure that Asian people can relate to this matter. Because they are experiencing right now.

Any how we want to look at it overpopulation greatly affect the country's economy. It brings about high level of unemployment and scarcity of products this should be controlled by the government

Everything has its advantage and as well disadvantages. Something might be of an advantage to you but to the next person it is considered as disadvantage. That's just how things work.

If provisions are not made by the government on how to provide job opportunities to for the high rate of population of citizens in the country, there's going to be a very serious problem because of increase in crime rate.

Yes it is in major citys. There is to many people who live in cardboard houses without proper hygene or food or heating system. They lost jobs and they are homeles.

Yes, that's right, overpopulation in an area can cause problems. Usually a high unemployment rate, low economic level, high crime rate, etc. So usually the government of a country holds a population equalization program, citizens are advised to move from densely populated areas to less populated areas.

If we look in Brasil, capital city Brasilila was created since Rio de Janerio had major overpopulation problem. It still does and even Brasilia have it now. Simple people want live in major citys.

Overpopulation is a world wide problem that needs to be addressed by the different government that we have. it is good to have some training especially for the housewives to reduce child birth.

Overpopulation can be a problem to the country if the economy of the country is poor. Unemployment rate will be high, and the country may not have the resources to support the medical, housing needs of the population.

In general terms if overpopulation occurs in a specific area in which so much population can be harmful, yes, but if we speak in general terms throughout the planet I do not think so, since general calculations have been made and the entire world population could inhabit and survive in a state like Texas of the USA.

Unfortunately this is something that have been impossible to carry out in my country Nigeria today and we are seeing overpopulation becoming a very serious challenge in the country.

I've read the history of the Chinese state, it used to be full of chaotic state corruption, but after restructuring the economy and cracking down on corruptors their economic situation has improved. So the progress of a country will depend on the leader to manage natural resources and control.

Overpopulation puts a nation at risk unless all have good work that could sustain a living. Many will be hungry and the poorest of the poor will scatter around begging for food and homeless.

Sure, Overpopulation puts a nation at risk when there's a lot of people that are struggling to use a limited resources because of too many people which is bad really

It is better for the national government to stop over population by imposing and fully implementing the family planning program. In my country, there is a penalty for a couple if raised more than 2 kids but others do not care so they suffer living under the bridge because of their stupidity.

Yes its a problem and India is facing that from long now, Government needs to work smartly but it has its advantage too that you will have cheap labor
