Would getting a MBA (Masters of Business Administration) worth it for the job and pay that comes with it? Should it even be required to get for certain types of management jobs?

This doesn't help in any way. Get practical. Buy business books and read if you want to learn business. MBA would only advance theories to you. It is good for people that want to teach business schools themselves.
Having a MBA degree does help a person to get more employment opportunities and make career advancement. That said, having practical experience and skills is of equal importance. Never stop learning is one of the keys to success.
I can categorically tell you that MBA doesn't enhance your business skills. Those skills are learned and developed over time. MBA is just a qualifications used for seeking employment.
There is a huge difference between education and experience. Now, corporate bodies need people with experience than avalanche of qualifications. Without experience , it will be difficult to maintain and sustain growth in this present economic situation. More certificate cannot give you experience.
In the context of practicing business, all these degrees are meaningless and won't do a thing to make one a better business person. There is a reason why apprenticeship system thrives in business. That's because business is more practical.
I am not agreeing that it is only for seeking an employment. It is still part of gaining knowledge about business. If you are claiming this, it does happen in China. They take MBA to be promoted.
Personally, I believe that it is worth it and if I should have the means of acquiring MBA right now, I am still going to do it because it is going to be beneficial for my business.
To be promoted in business? Or to be promoted in a job? What you need in business is core business skills and not MBA. It is meaningless.
I still do not agree. It is my personal opinion. Don't be offended. Though I respect your opinion about it. For me, it is not for a promotion thing and the like only.
You can learn on your own or you can do an MBA, what is certain is that the MBA is not only a degree that accredits you to be promoted or to obtain a job in the field, but also to acquire extensive knowledge, if not they would just give it away.
Seriously I believe that the knowledge that you are going to acquire from it is going to be very essential to being successful in running your business but it doesn't mean that you cannot run your business without it.
