Time is wasted during meetings over any other business activity?

Is more time wasted during meetings than during any other business activity? Or is it frequent meetings the actual time waste when it comes to time spent at work?

This is often my complaint when I am required to attend a peace and order meeting. My job is to collect taxes and I don't think I have to listen to the police rendering a report. Told them I am busy but they require me to send representative which is also useless because it cannot make decision and render opinions.

Some organizations hold endless meetings that don't end up being very important to the organization. Just doing it as a routine.

That depends on whether the meeting is productive. If positive, it's not a waste of time. Normally, top management needs to have meetings with departmental managers on a regular basis to check out the progress of certain ongoing projects and foster cross departmental communications.

Personally, I am always frustrated when a business meeting is taking too long especially when there is nothing serious the meeting is all about. I believe that it affects work productivity that particular day the meeting is held.

I feel meetings can't be called if there is no important message that is needed to be passed to the workers. But it can be a waste of time when somethings are being repeated unnecessarily

Business owners and managers need to work on this as it is annoying l when a business meeting is drag unnecessary and taking too long a time and it isn't even very important..

Meetings should be called only when it's necessary. Some Managers just enjoy the company of the staff and would always fix meetings to keep the staff.

Exactly,Some Managers can just be annoying calling for endless meetings, should be called only once a month but no it is always from one unnecessary meeting to another with no points

There is notting wrong in having periodic meetings, this would actually benefit the company in general, but i believe it becomes an issue and could be seen as waste of time when the meetings are too frequent.

Yesh notting wrong in having periodic meetings, but it becomes a waste of time when the meetings are too frequent.and the actual cause doesn't make much sense so it's a waste

I must say that I do not like attending meetings in my previous companies. As you had mentioned, it always wastes my time. For the reason that the problems are always not solved.
