When a guest arrived in the office my office allowed us to entertain them in the visitors area and for a short time.

That's what is allowed in every office. They don't want guests to enter and check what you do.

We don't have a separate guest room in our factory. Any guest is asked to sit in our waiting room to talk to the person.

Most of the companies here don't allow to bring in the guests. They have guests rooms where they can come and talk to you and go back.

Every workplace has its own rules and work culture. And employees should stick to it. Most corporates these days accomodate the rules that are flexible and have humanness in them. Guest visitors can be received and entertained in the visitors area. The Corporates are only concerned with getting the work delivered. Your guest visits or any other sort of engagement should not impact your work.
