That is true
You need to be able to recognize the one that is not feeling too well and the one that is okay
This is why you have to be very observant when it comes to looking after your poultry farm birds because once you are observant, you will notice the ones that are feeling sick and you separate them immediately from the entire batch.

You're very right because if those chickens get infected, they will die and nobody will buy a dead chicken. It takes professionalism to take care of them
That is why it is best to hire a veterinarian to cater the needs of these chicken in a poultry farm. I must say that we need to consider this matter before having this kind of business. Even if we are not knowledgeable in raising them, there are some vets who can work with you.

Even if you are not a veteninarian, you can just employ someone who will be doing that for you

I once had a few chickens, it was the season for the bird flu virus. In the afternoon they were still healthy, fresh, and fine, in the morning several of my chickens suddenly died all of a sudden.

At that time one of my friends also experienced the same. Several of his hens died in a day. Even during the coronavirus when people didn't eat egg, he had to bear lots of loss.

What a pity. But yes, that's the risk in the livestock business. There is no business without risk. So we must always take into account every possibility that exists, so that we can survive when the risk comes.

The business owner should always have a B plan to face losses but when there are unexpected things like what happened during the covid times , nothing can be done.

Yes, it's true, during Covid, many chicken farms went bankrupt, because chicken deliveries were stopped, they couldn't be sent out of town. So, they sell it at a very cheap price.

He had a loss to an extent that he had to close his business and had to sell his property to survive. And now he never thinks to open a poultry farm.
One of my cousins has a chicken farm, during Covid he lost a lot, but now he can still get back up. I don't know, maybe he has a lot of capital savings.

Many of business owners got bankrupt during that time. Those who had savings in their account were able to survive otherwise many of them had to shut down their businesses even the unemployment increased at that time.

The risk in poultry business has been cut out these days by superior knowledge in the field. It is rare to hear those kind of massive losses in poultry unless there was negligence somewhere.

Poultry business is very nice and it's one of the few businesses I plan on starting.
But the risk in poultry business is similar to the risk in forex asset market

You can't compare the two. Forex business is a very high risk business unlike poultry. Poultry is reasonably a controllable risk business. Forex can just turn around and hit you without any fault of yours. For poultry to hit you, you must have critically gotten something wrong.

One of the biggest fears I have in poultry business is the fear of mortality and sudden death syndrome. It scares me to the marrow. But I believe that there is a way out because I see some big farms surviving without encountering this.

We all know that poultry farming is one of the best and profitable business to venture into but there are some thing attached to poultry faming that i am really scared of.
- unreasonable rise in the cost of feeding the birds: right now in my country the cost of feeding the birds in a poultry farm is very high, almost neck breaking .
- poultry birds love dying: if you have been in the poultry business then you should have noticed that the birds(chickens especially) derives pleasure in dying when their harvest time is at hand.
- fear of wandering predators: my mum once own a large flocks of layers but surprisingly when the birds started laying eggs, we noticed egg shells in random areas around the farm. The egg eating snakes were later caught but the huge damages are done already.
- disease: an infected bird is capable of infecting the whole farm with the same disease if care isn't taken.
What are you fears in starting a poultry faming?
My major fears in starting a poultry farm is the fact that chickens do die when they are much younger and also they require a specialist doctor to help check up on them once in a while or in weeks to ensure they don't die in their early stage and also prevents the transmission of diseases.
