What do you think of on -call job

Most of the times when you are working for another person you would definitely not have control over your time because you answer to another person which is why starting your own business will always be better.

On call job does help one to have a focus on a job. you know you only get a call when the person that needs the business from you is very serious

If am not mistaken, with this method you would only get paid when you are called. Meaning when there is no call, there would be no pay. This method would only work if you have other sources of income.

I personally do not like working this way because that means I cannot control my work schedule. I have to be on "standby" mode all the time to wait for my employer to call. I prefer working as a freelancer. I have the flexibility and can decide when and for how long I work.

This mode of job may often distract other things you do since you don't know when you might be called and may restrict you from having another side job to do .

Some doctors work on call and it is convenient for them to than having to go sit down in one building a whole day. When a situation needs your attention, you come around, do your job and don't leave.

Provided that one is operating in a market where his/her skills or expertise is in high demand, an on call job would be viable even for persons with children.
I envy such individual, based on the idea that he/she would have plenty of free time to interact with his/her family.

I don't know of other countries o, but in Nigeria, the business of call centers is no more lucrative, infact not feasible anymore. It had became outdated business. Nobody is interested in the business anymore. Telecommunication has been made accessible to all and sundry because of its flexibility.

There are many companies where employees are hired and they are supposed to rest during the weekends. However, the employers call them even during the weekend as well! This is insane.

This is more less called contracting or casual job. The jobber is excluded from the tensions of the work. He is on contract and he's paid on wages as agreed upon. The only that the job is not secured.
